Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to understand genetics and molecular biology of yeast model organisms. They should be aware of the most recent topics in yeast molecular biology and biotechnology.
Syllabus
  • Yeast basic characteristics. Yeasts as cytological model. Methodology. Genetics of yeasts. Yeast-based biotechnologies. Pathogenic yeast. Cell division cycle. Molecular biology of mating process. Yeast cell wall. DNA metabolism and chromosomes in yeast cell.
