The course is designed for students of master degree program of Geography and Cartography, the input knowledge should reflect the degree of bachelor degree program of Geography and Cartography (human geography) or Applied Geography. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- The main aim is to increase practical skills in the field of access to regional geographic aspects of the European Union. Emphasis is placed on the practical part conducted through e-learning online course (one hour a week) and to link cartographic and geoinformation skills in ICT workshops (1 hour per week), in which selected development topics of Euroregions problems are being spatially analyzed. Current topics of regional geographic aspects of EU will be discussed with the students in the one-hour lectures.

- Definition of basic concepts, introduction to subject
- Transdisciplinary conceptualization of Europe and the European Union – geographers overview, regionalist, sociologists, cartographers, urban planners and planners, political scientists and others, formed the EU media
- Discourse of European integration from the perspective of regional geography (basic pillars of integration processes, the spatial development schedule)
- The institutional view of the European Union - authorities principles of operation, programming
- Common and coordinated policies of the European Union
- Regional policy within the EU, the impact on regional development areas
- Inside Europe, Euroregions and the view of regional disparities
- Strategies and approaches to the EU's external relations
- Economic and monetary aspects of the EU, their influence on regional policy and development of Euroregions
- Modernization activities, europeism, double-Europe and other innovative tendencies
- Project Cycle and the European Union, the implications for regional development
- Forms of support for regional development
- The role of the current regional geography (and geographers) - perspectives in modern Europe

- 1 hour theoretical lecture, 1 hour ICT workshop, 1 hour online e-learning activities per week
- Assessment methods
- A condition for fulfilling requirements is treated in the project done in IS Benefit7, participation in seminars and attendance of the creation of map compositions. The exam is oral, with 30% marks are collected from tests in electronic forms within an online course at IS MU.
