- Course objectives
- Course follows Regional policy and regional development taught in master programme. Emphasis will be put on detailed explanation of main economic theories and theories of regional development. New facts concerning present regional policy in the EU and Czech Republic will be presented as well.
- Syllabus
- 1. Neo-classical theories or regional development, theories core vs. periphery, Keynesian theories of regional development 2. Structuralist conception of economy, Marxist theories of regional development, regulative school 3. Institutionalist theories of regional development and present discussion in theory and practice of regional policy 4. Contemporary regional policy in the EU 5. Contemporary regional policy in the Czech Republic 6. Tools of regional policy in the EI and member states Each topic will be covered by two two-hour blocks, last two hours will be devoted to assessment of seminar thesis.
