- Course objectives
- The main objective of this course is to practically study with use of anatomical preparations and visually fix the knowledge learned by the students within the course Anatomy for anthropologists I.; Human anatomy in the extent specific for the students of anthropology. The classes are given at the Department of Anthropology, and mainly in the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine (with kind permission of the Head of the Department of Anatomy Prof. RNDr. Petr Dubový, CSc.). The goal of this course is that the students acquire knowledge about the human body nervous system structure. Knowledge of the human body morphology is fundamental for the students of anthropology, with respect to the integral approach to anthropological study and research. Understanding the morphology of the human body is fundamental also from the practical standpoint - without it it is almost impossible to grasp the majority of biologically oriented methods of anthropological research (while it is also important in social and cultural anthropology research).
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students should be able to understand the anatomy of human nervous system adequate for anthropologists; define and list its components; the students should be able to explain the anatomical structure and function of the nervous system of the human body and use this knowledge in anthropological studies and research; such proficiency is essential for a study in any area of the knowledge of man;

- Teaching methods
- The tuition is practical, using anatomical preparations, presence is mandatory, the students come to every class prepared for the content practically studied in that class, according to previous lecture. The preparedness for class is checked via a short test in the beginning of each class.
- Assessment methods
- Credit is awarded if the students are actively present at the practical courses (2 absences are permitted). Further, at the beginning of each practical training an entry test is given (multiple choice, written answers, illustration labeling) credited with maximum 6 points. To gain credit at the end of the semester 65 % of possible points must be attained.
