- Course objectives
- Students will be able to:
understanding of the discipline of history physics, its methods
identify major ideas development in history physics
understanding of connection between historical events and physics over time
understanding evolution of key historical physics theories - Syllabus
- 1. Evolution of physical and astronomical cognition until Galileo (physical knowledges of antique civilization, ancient Greek and Roman, physics of Arabian, Europe middle ages and renaissance
- 2. Evolution of physics in framework mechanics (origin and development Galilei's, Newton's and Lagrange's mechanics
- 3. Evolution and limit classical physics (origin and development electrodynamics, optics, thermodynamics and statistical physics, boundary of validity)
- 4. Origin and development theory of relativity (origin special and general theory of relativity, philosophical problems)
- 5. Origin and development quantum physics (origin and evolution of quantum theory, application in solid state, spectroscopy of atoms, molecules, atom physics)
