- Course objectives
- The course is devoted mainly for students of the geology. It follows the main goal to present them theoretical problems of stratigraphy, methods of stratigraphy and the aim of the unified stratigraphical terminology.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, student will be able to understand:
- conventional stratigraphic methods (lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy)
- methods of absolut dating (half-time decay of radionulcides)
- petrophysical stratigraphic methods (well loging, , etc. gamma-carotage, magnetic susceptibility)
- geochemical stratigraphic methods(chemostratigraphy of stabil isotopes, elemental geochemistry) - Syllabus
- Aspects of stratigraphy (methodology, semiotics, practice, history, theory)
- Time in geology, principles and rules of stratigraphy
- Methods
- Principles of stratigraphic classification, codes, units, stratigraphic scales
- Global standard stratigraphy
