Prerequisites
The course is mandatory for all students who manipulate chemical substances while studying at the Faculty of Science MU. Students must pass C7777 every academic year.

Course objectives
The course C7777 offers basic information on current legislation relevant to handling chemical substances, standards of safe handling of chemicals, and waste removal.
Learning outcomes
Students should be able to characterize basic principles of safe handling of chemicals and the system of classification of hazardous properties of chemical compounds. Students should also be able to give first aid to a person injured or intoxicated by a chemical compound.
Syllabus
  • Structure of the lecture:

    Principles of classification, labeling, and packaging (CLP) of chemical substances and mixtures.

    Rules related to current legislation and inner regulations of Masaryk University.

    Safety of work in a chemical laboratory, safe storing of chemical substances, and protection of the environment.

    Guidelines of first aid.

    Safe removal of chemical waste.

Teaching methods
Introductory distance lecture (the recorded lecture will be available in IS) and individual study of provided materials.
Assessment methods
Introductory distance lecture (2 hours) at the beginning of an autumn semester.

This lecture is compulsory for all students in the first term of their Bachelor study; the lecture is optional for other students and Ph.D. students.

All enrolled students should pass the final test.
