1. Basic geometric skills: measuring lengths with a ruler, measuring angles, drawing a parallel to a given line, drawing a tangent to a curve, plotting points on a graph 2. Basic algebraic skills: trigonometric functions, solving a system of two equations with two unknowns 3. The student should be familiar with the basic terminology in structural geology. Passing the course G4101 Structural geology and geotectonics is a prerequisite for the students of the bachelor study in Geology.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
there are 32 fields of study the course is directly associated with, display
Course objectives
The main content of the subject is practical implementation and practice the most important methods of processing tectonic data. The subject is intended for students of the bachelor's degree with an interest in getting to know the basic methods of tectonic research and Master's degree students who intend to pass state exam in tectonics. For listeners who want to specialize (bachelor's, diploma thesis) to study tectonics, completion of the course is recommended already in the third year.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- understand the concepts of advanced structural geology
- use methods for strain analysis
- use methods for paleostress anylysis
