- Course objectives
- The main objective of this course is to practically study with use of anatomical preparations and visually fix the knowledge learned by the students within the course Anatomy for anthropologists I.; Human anatomy in the extent specific for the students of anthropology. The classes are given at the Department of Anthropology, and predominantly in the facilities of the Faculty of Medicine (with kind permission of the Head of the Department of Anatomy MUDr. Marka Joukal, Ph.D.). The goal of this course is that the students acquire knowledge about the human body musculoskeletal structure. Knowledge of the human body morphology is fundamental for the students of anthropology, with respect to the integral approach to anthropological study and research. Understanding the morphology of the human body is fundamental also from the practical standpoint - without it it is almost impossible to grasp the majority of biologically oriented methods of anthropological research (while it is also important in social and cultural anthropology research).
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students should be able to understand the anatomy of human locomotor system, to define and list both its passive and active components; the students should be able to explain the anatomical structure and function of the skeletal system and muscular apparatus of the human body and use this knowledge in anthropological studies and research; such proficiency is essential for a study in any area of the knowledge of man.
