Course objectives
The main goal of this course is introduction of students in isolation and cultivation of microorganisms and maintenance of pure cultures. The next step is the microscopic and macroscopic morphology of archaea and bacteria, their phenotypic classification and identification and typing of bacteria by rep-PCR method as well as by mass spectrometry MALDI TOF procedure.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able to perform: - isolation and cultivation of microorganisms, maintenance of pure cultures; - microscopic and macroscopic morphology of archaea and bacteria; - phenotypic classification and identification of Gram negative bacteria; - phenotypic classification and identification of Gram positive bacteria; - typing and identification of bacteria by rep-PCR method; - analysis of microorganisms by mass spectrometry MALDI TOF procedure.
