- Course objectives
- Review of diversity and evolution of flowering plants. Main objective is upgrade of basic knowledge with extension of examples, focused on phylogenetically and/or economically important species of Central European or tropic floras.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course students should be able to: - list of morphological variability of important families of the vascular plants; - know main representatives of Central European flora and economically significant species.
- Syllabus
- 1. Magnoliophyta; evolutional significance of important features ; basal dicots: Ranunculaceae, Papaveraceae, Fumariaceae. - 2. caryophyllids (Caryophyllaceae). - 3. rosids I (Brassicaceae). - 4. rosids II (Rosaceae s.l.). - 5. rosids III (Fabaceae). - 6. rosids IV (Malvaceae, Euphorbiaceae). - 7. asterids I (Ericaceae, Primulaceae). - 8. asterids II (Gentianaceae, Rubiaceae, Apocynaceae). - 9. asterids III (Boraginaceae, Lamiaceae). - 10. asterids IV (Scrophulariaceae s.l.). - 11. asterids V (Apiaceae). - 12. asterids VI (Asteridae). - 13. monocots, commelliids (Poaceae).
