- Course objectives
- At the end of this practical course students should be able to:
utilize modern methods of measurements of physiological processes in plants growing in their habitats;
monitor abiotic factors in close vicinity of the studied plants;
design suitable conceptual approach to solve specific ecological problems using physiological measurements;
select the most appropriate methods for field data collection and their evaluation. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of this practical course students should be able to: - utilize modern methods of measurements of physiological processes in plants growing in their habitats; - monitor abiotic factors in close vicinity of the studied plants; - design suitable conceptual approach to solve specific ecological problems using physiological measurements; - select the most appropriate methods for field data collection and their evaluation.
- Syllabus
- Principles, advantages and disadvantages of different sensors used in monitoring of abiotic variables: radiation, temperature, wind velocity, air humidity.
- Principles, advantages and disadvantages of different sensors used in monitoring of abiotic variables: soil water potential, carbon dioxide and oxygen concentration.
- Field data acquisition using data loggers.
- Principles of methods and available compact apparatus most frequently used for measurement of physiological processes in the field conditions, their practical application gasometry.
- Principles of methods and available compact apparatus most frequently used for measurement of physiological processes in the field conditions, their practical application fluorometry.
- Principles of methods and available compact apparatus most frequently used for measurement of physiological processes in the field conditions, their practical application reflectometry.
- Design of ecophysiological studies using complementary measurements in laboratory conditions.
