Syllabus
  • Session 0: course introduction and objectives, participant presentations
  • Sessions 1 to 3 (morning sessions): academic writing theory, in-class assignments and discussion; Key areas: research article structure, textual coherence, reading like a writer, academic writing strategies, electronic tools in academic writing, etc.
  • Sessions 1 to 3: (afternoon sessions): hands-on workshop dedicated to individual manuscript drafts: peer corrections, discussion, etc.
  • Sessions 4 to 8: hands-on workshop dedicated to individual manuscript drafts: peer corrections, discussion, etc.
  • Final session: participant self-evaluation and feedback, manuscript finalization

Teacher's information
In order to qualify, a work-in-progress manuscript which does not require any additional research, lab work, analyses, etc. must be submitted at registration. This is to ensure that the course participant will not be hindered by any external factors for the duration of the course. A copy of the manuscript in an as-is state must be submitted for evaluation, approval shall be granted at the lecturer’s discretion, largely based on the submitted manuscript draft.
