- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The seminar provides tutorials on several advanced topics and solutions of problems extending the course Oscillations, waves, optics.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course, the student will be able to:
- analyze physical problems involving oscillations, waves, and optics and formulate their mathematical description;
- apply basic tools of the theory of linear systems: harmonic approximation and superposition principle;
- utilize Fourier spectral methods to convert between time/space domain and the frequency domain. - Syllabus

- 2. oscillations of simple molecules
- 3. linear response theory
- 4. wave packets in dispersing media
- 5. spectral decomposition of light (prism, rainbow)
- 6. light propagation in optically inhomogenenous media (mirages, light bending by a gravitational field)
- 7. light propagation through multilayers, 1D photonic crystals
- 8. Fraunhofer diffraction on 1D and 2D gratings
- 9. Fresnel diffraction
- 10. Fourier optics
