- After completing this course the student will be able to: • understand authentic texts/lectures on Earth Science • identify the main ideas • formulate the main ideas • summarize a simple scientific/geologic text • interpret the information from the text/lecture • identify causes and effects • use terminology of the course topics; • define the terms of the course topics; • classify minerals and rocks • describe scientific methods, minerals, rocks, processes/cycles, sources of energy • compare and contrast using the proper terminology and academic vocabulary • discuss general and scientific topics • apply acquired skills in academic English to new topics
