Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the practical part of working with ancient DNA in laboratories. This includes help with the processing of ancient material and samples, preparation, and proper decontamination of laboratories.
Learning outcomes
After attending this course, the students will be able to prepare samples for processing in aDNA laboratories and properly prepare laboratories, tools, and material for work. This course is an opportunity for students to thoroughly master good practice and develop habits associated with working with aDNA samples and working in aDNA laboratories.
Syllabus
  • The course is taught in the form of exercises in the laboratory. After the initial instruction, they work independently according to the instructor's instructions. Depending on the problem, the student can help with any given task. From decontamination and preparation of samples or laboratories, to further processing of samples, e.g., their lysis, purification, or amplification of aDNA. Emphasis is placed on good practice and the development of habits associated with aDNA samples and work in aDNA laboratories.
