- Course objectives
- 1. Introduction to nanocolloid science 2. Basic physics and chemistry of semiconductor and metal nanoparticles 3. Overview of the most relevant preparation methods in inorganic nanoparticle research: (a) Metal oxides and chalcogenides (b) metallic and bimetallic nanostructures 4. Introduction to sol-gel technology: molecular precursors, sol-gel transition, film formation strategies, hybrid nanocomposites 5. Spectroscopic and electrochemical analytical methods in nanoparticle research
- Learning outcomes
- Absolvents will gain the following knowledge: 1. Theoretical basis of novel physical-chemical properties in the field of inorganic nanoparticles - new state of matter 2. Synthesis strategies in nanocolloidal chemistry 3. Fundamentals of sol-gel nanochemistry for wet chemical tailoring of multifunctional glasses, nanoceramics and inorganic-organic hybrid composites 4. Nanoanalytics for identification and surface studies of inorganic nanostructures

- 1. Definition, classification and critical parameters of nanocolloids 2. Basic optical and thermodynamical properties of semiconductor and metal nanoparticles 3. Overview of the most relevant preparation methods in inorganic nanoparticle research: (a) Metal oxides: size- and shape control approaches (b)II-VI and III-V semiconductor colloids (c) metallic and bimetallic nanocolloids of various sizes and shapes 4. Introduction to sol-gel technology: molecular precursors and their reactivity control, sol-gel transition, film formation strategies, hybrid nanocomposites 5. Spectroscopic and electrochemical analytical methods in nanoparticle research
