Course objectives
The subject is a theoretical introduction for successive obligatory three-term course of physical laboratory. The aim of this subject is to provide basic information about experimental work in physical laboratory and about numerical processing of experimental data.
Learning outcomes
A graduate is able to evaluate experimental data, calculate a mean value and mean square error, use a computer software for plotting a graph, regression of experimental data and write a report.
Syllabus
  • 1. Experiment in physics and natural sciences.
  • 2. Physical measurement, absolute and relative measurement method, origin of experimental errors.
  • 3. Random and systematic experimental error.
  • 4. Distribution of random variable.
  • 5. Mean value and mean square error.
  • 6. Confidence interval and Student's coefficients.
  • 7. Error of calculated variables.
  • 8. Plotting of graph.
  • 9. Regression, least squares method.
