- Course objectives
- Students will get acquainted with the use of information technology in public administration. Both geospatial technology and data use aspects will be described. Main geospatial applications and strategy will be shown on several hierarchical levels of public administration (state, regional, local). Students will be able to understand the strategy and rules of application, use and geospatial data policy in public administration.
- Learning outcomes
- The participants will learn the history and contemporary use of geo applications within the public administration on different levels. They will also learn how to analyse, evaluate and present selected spatial agendas from the level of ministry to municipal level. Finally, students will analyse the strategic documents influencing the future development of geoinformatics in public administration.
- Syllabus
- 1. Geoinformation in public administration introduction – terminology and history;
- 2. Possibilities of geoinformation use in public administration;
- 3. Central public administration, registries and the national geoinformation strategy;
- 4. Geoinformation on regional administration – selected departments examples;
- 5. Geoinformation applications on municipality level;
- 6. Basic geospatial data sources for public administration – cadastral data, digital map of public administration, ZABAGED;
- 7. Thematic geospatial data sources for public administration – spatial planning, environmental information, and traffic information;
- 8. Geoinformation technology in public administration – strategy, facilities, and use;
- 9. National information policy, strategy for use of geoinformation, national geoinformation infrastructure.
