Course objectives
After completing this course the student will be able to: understand authentic texts/lectures on Earth science
identify the main ideas
formulate the main ideas
summarize a scientific/earth science text
interpret the information from the text/lecture
use terminology of the course topics
define the terms of the course topics
describe tables and graphs
explain causes and effects
compare and contrast using the proper linking devices
present the topics of the course using basic presentation techniques
discuss one´s future professional aims
apply acquired skills in academic English to new topics

foreign language course: text analysis; reading/listening comprehension exercises; pronunciation and grammar exercises; field and academic vocabulary exercises; presentations using basic presentation technique and discussion; terminology, useful vocabulary and definitions;
Assessment methods
Continous assignments (reading, writing, presentations, debates), semestral project: job interview simulation, 80% attendance in the seminars, active work.
