Course objectives
At the end of this course students will have gained ability to: understand and explain principles of microevolutionary processes and mechanisms, evolution on the molecular level, adaptations, behavioral and ecological aspects of evolution, origin of life on Earth, origin and evolution of sexual reproduction, origin of species (speciation), macroevolutionary trends, classification of organisms and phylogeny inference, human evolution and cultural evolution; they should be able to interpret zoological and/or botanical phenomena from the view of the evolutionary theory and suggest falsifiable hypotheses for solving a wide range of biological questions.
Learning outcomes
The graduent of the course will be able to grasp general questions of evolutionary biology and basic principles of micro- and macroevolution and to apply them to specific conditions of his/her study or professional subject.
