Course objectives
The main objectives are the following: understanding of the mathematical modelling of groundwater flow; • using of the spreadsheet editor in numerical modelling (Excel); • learning the workflow for the model development - conceptual and numerical model development, calibration and history matching and analysis of the model results uncertainty; • Introduction to the Modflow.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: • understand the basic mathematical principles of the groundwater flow modeling; • develop the numerical model both in spreadsheet editor and Modflow; • calibrate model to improve the simulation accuracy; • evaluate the uncertainty of the model results.
Syllabus
  • Principles of hydrogeological modeling • Modeling of groundwater flow in spreadsheet editor (Excel) • simulation of basic hydrogeological features by Flow packages included in Modflow • workflow for the numerical model development (conceptual mode, numerical model, calibration, history matching, recalibration).
