Syllabus
  • Instrumental analysis of cytogentic structures. Light microscopy, phase microscopy, darkfield microscopy, fluorescent microscopy. Technical equipment of cytogenetics laboratory. Plant cytogenetics. Basic techniques of plant cytogenetic preparation making. Pretreatment, fixation, maceration, Feulgen staining, mounting of preparations. Paraffin technique, squash methods, spreading methods. Human cytogenetics. Chromosome praparation from peripheral lymphocytes, amniotic fluid cells, bone marrow. Conventional method of staining. Banding methods. Classifying chromosomes, automatic karyotype analysis. Molecular cytogenetics. Methods and applications of fluorescent in situ hybridization. Labelling of DNA probes, denaturation, hybridization, washing. Signal amplification. Detection of fluorescent signals and digital imaging microscopy. Technique of comparative genomic hybridization (CGH).
