  • PRODUCTIONAL PLANT BIOLOGY Topics of practical training (academic year 2000) 1) Introduction to practical training, Overview of terminology, units 2) Microclimatic parameters of plant stand, daily cources of photosynthetically active radiation, means of precipitation, relative air humidity, soil water content srážky, relativní vhlkost vzduchu, vlhkost půdy termální čas 3) Absorption of radiation by leaf and stand, Lambert-Beer law, radiation extinction coefficient in relation to stand density and foliage distribution 4) Laboratory experiment: Cultivation of plants under different radiation regimes 5) Photosynthesis - photochemical processes, analysis of induction curves of chlorophyll fluorescence 6) Laboratory experiment: harvest and estimation of organ biomass,relative growth rate, shott/root rati, LAR, LWR 7) Photosynthesis - relation of net photosynthesis to quantum yield of photosystem II 8) Leaf respiration and transpiration -gasometric measurements 9) Automatic data acquisition in the field, data loggers, sensors ústřednou 10) Field excursion to experimental plot (ecophysiological forest research plot Sobesice) stanovení transpirace metodou tepelné bilance), Estimation of evapotransiration in single tree using heat balance method 11) Plant production modelling (basic concept, type of models, practical work with AFRCWHEAT, MACROS models) 12) Plant production modelling - parametrization of a model, simulation run and calculation of production for real data. 13) Prospectives of Productional Plant Biology, students coloquium, credit giving
