Course objectives
Basic introductory lecture focused on functions of animal cells and organisms. Functions of body liquids, uptake, metabolism and excretion. Physiology of nerve system, endocrinology. Immune system and its function, mechanisms of hypersensitivity and autoimmunity, tumour and transplantation immunology.
Syllabus
  • 1. Physiology of cell (cellular organels and their basic functions, physiology of cellular membrane, localization and importance of cellular receptors of principal toxins). 2. Physiology of body liquids (blood and cells, major proceses and functions). 3. Physiology of metabolism (uptake and metabolism, distribution and storage of energy sources). 4. Physiology of breathing, lung and exchange of gases, principles of pH and oxygen regulations). 5. Physiology of excretion (kidneys, structure and function, regulation of pH and ionts levels). 6. Physiology of neural system (structure, functions of neuron, somatic and vegetative neurosystem). 8. Humoral regulations (endocrinology, hormons and their functions, mechanisms of signal transductions). Connections of neuro-humoral system. 9. Imune system (organs and cells of IS and their functions). 10. Mechanisms of immune reactions, specific and non-specific immunity, inflammation. 11. Pathological immunology (hypersensitivity, autoimunity). 12. Functions and processes in antitumour and transplantational immunity.
