Course objectives
Principle of mass separation in mass spectrometry. Electron impact ionisation. Methods of chemical ionisation, field ionisation and desorption. Laser ionisation, MALDI. Fast atom bombardment and secondary ion ionisation. Magnetic field mass spectrometers. Metastable ions detection. Dynamic mass analysers. Coupling of chromatographic methods with mass spectrometry. Surface analysis of solids - SIMS. Trace analysis - SSMS, ICP/MS. Direct inlet probe. Membrane introduction mass spectrometry. High temperature mass spectrometry. Search of spectra in mass spectra libraries.
