Course objectives
Divisibility in integral domains: unique factorization domains, principle ideal domains, euclidean domains. Divisibility in Z: primes, unique decomposition into product of primes, greatest common divisor, least common multiple, Euclid's algorithm. Congruence, linear congruences in one variable, Chinese remainder theorem, Fermat and Euler theorems, primitive roots. Quadratic residues, Legendre symbol, quadratic reciprocity law. Linear diophantine equations, some elementary methods for solving special types of diophantine equations.
