Course objectives
Ornithology as a science. Research on birds: the Czech Republic and the World. Societies. Literature. Applied ornithology. Birds as indicators of environmental changes. Protection of birds. Endangered and extinct species. Causes. Bird migration: the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. Patterns of migration. Classification of birds: present state, changes, trends. Birds of the World: zoogeographical regions. Birds of the Czech Republic: recent status, changes, protection. Identification of birds in the field and in the hand. Equipment.
