Course objectives
Students will gain fundamental knowledges about biogeography and its interesting problems. They will receive detailed information about disponibile biogeographical maps and their advantages and disadvantages - both in Czechia and in the World. Regional biogeography, especially of the Earth, will be presented too.
Syllabus
  • 1. Subject and goal of the course. History of the Biogeography. Interrelations to other sciences. 2. Organismus and its environment. Ecological conditions and factors. Ecological vicariazation. 3. Life forms and strategies, biogeographical rules. 4. Spread of the species, migrations. Island theory. 5. Geographical extremes in the spread of organisms. 6. Speciation - evolution of species x origin of communities 7. Unity of organismus and its environment - phytocoenoses, ecosystems, geobiocoenoses, forest types. 8. Areals and their mapping, disjunctions, relicts, endemites, migration, migroelements. 9. New biogeographical division of the Earth (IUCN). 10. Alternative biogeographical division, division of the World Ocean. 11. Biogeographical division of the Central Europe. 12. Phytogeographical division of the Czechia. 13. Biogeographical division of the Czechia.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Výuka je klasická za pomoci powerpointu. Přednášky navštěvovat sice není nutné, ale velmi to doporučuji, u zkoušky bývá zřejmé, kdo na ně chodil. Zkouška je ústní (cca 30 min.), s možností přípravy. Během semestru studenti zpracovávají seminární práci - mapování vybraného území z biogeografického hlediska, mapování biotopů, profil územím s potenciální a aktuální biotou, zpracování fytocenologických snímků. Kvalita seminární práce a aktivita ve cvičeních tvoří 30% výsledného hodnocení. Zkoušku je však třeba udělat nejméně na E. Součástí výsledné známky je i ohodnocení poznávání dřevin a některých dalších rostlin běžných v krajině ČR a znalosti jejich rozšíření. Tato část tvoří 20% výsledné známky.
