Course objectives
Basic knowledge necessary for field botanical research will be taught, including information on identification handbooks, regional floras, maps, databases, herbarium collections and methods of collecting herbarium specimens. A scientific herbarium collection will be visited. In the field, methods of botanical recording and geobotanical research will be demonstrated, including establishment of vegetation plots. At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand basic botanical data and information sources; acquire information and data necessary for their own field research; collect and prepare herbarium specimens; make botanical field records; establish vegetation plots.
