Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to introduce to students the burial rites as a sociocultural phenomenon; show the variability of this phenomenon in the wide extent of the paradigm. At the end of this course the student should be able to: understand and explain the differences and specifics in burial rites according to social status; age; ethnicity; interpret burials outside the burial sites and graveyards; during war; describe antivampyric precautions; explain other specifics in treating the deceased - the human sacrifices, grave robbing.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation in form of lectures, complemented by individual student work (translation of a selected paper related to burial rites, essay on given topic etc.).
Assessment methods
The course is concluded with an exam - on condition of submitting a written task (scientific paper translation, essay on agreed topic etc.). The exam consists of a written test and a discussion.
