Mathematics and physics on basic academic level and succesully finished Foundations of astronomy 1 and 2 (F1251 a F2252).

Course objectives
Practicum offers selected practical methods commonly used in modern astronomy.
Syllabus
  • Spherical astronomy (determination of angular distances, geographical coordinates, refraction).
  • Astrometry (methods used on CCD and digital cameras, determnation of proper motions, positions of comets, asteroids, Moon's mountains).
  • Photometry (methods of CCD photometry, determination of magnitudes of variable objects, determination of fluxes, photometrical calibration, Solar constant).
  • Spectroscopy (building of own spectroscope, determination of stellar spectra, basic physical parameters of stellar atmospheres).
