- Course objectives
- Main objectives can be summarized as follows: description of basic methods and techniques of geographical enquiry; to give an overview of geographic data resources; to understand the formal aspects of scientific work in geography.
- Syllabus
- 1. General methodology. Analyses, synthesis, abstraction, deduction, induction, causality, hypothesis, theory, verification, scientific discussion;
- 2. Exploration and research. Time-space scale of studied phenomena;
- 3. Field research in physical geography;
- 4. Field research in human geography;
- 5. Geographic statistical data and resources;
- 6. Models in geography;
- 7. Cartographic approaches in geographic enquiry;
- 8. Work with literature and sources;
- 9. Laboratory research;
- 10. Structure of scientific report, presentation of research results.
