Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain principles of basic immunological techniques. They acquire knowledge about practical use of immunological methods, learn to make reasoned decisions about their appropriate application and interpret the results of used methodology.
Syllabus
  • 1. Histology of immune organs 2. Cells involved in the immune system 3. Determination of antimicrobial activity: lysozyme by method of radial diffusion 4. Phagocyte activity: test of ingestion of MSH particles 5. Phagocyte activity: chemiluminescent determination 6. Lymphocyte isolation: method of gradient sedimentation 7. Hemagglutination methods: determination of blood groups 8. Chemiluminescent methods in evaluation of complement activity 9. Determination of antibodies: immuno-diffusion and turbidimetry 10. Proteins in blood serum: immunoelectrophoresis

Attendance in the course and protocols from all lessons are compulsory; final exam in written form consisting of 20 questions minimum pass level 75 %.
