Course objectives
Aim of the course is introduction to anatomy of human dentition and methodology of dental anthropological research in skeletal material. After passing of this course students should have an overwiev of possibilities of dental anthropogical reseacharch. How many information can obtain by dental research in skeletal popupations and which techniques are best for use by this research.
Syllabus
  • 1. History of dental anthopological research. Basic anatomy of teeth, methods of description and dental anthropological record. Dental tissues - enamel, dentin, pulpa.
  • 2. Ontogeny of human jaws.
  • 3. Ontogeny of human teeth.
  • 4. Phylogeny of teeth in mammals and hominids.
  • 5. Anatomy and distinguishing of isolated teeth (types and siding)
  • 6. Oclusion nad its deformations.
  • 7. Anomalies of deciduous and permanent dentition.
  • 8. Deseases of teeth and jaws.
  • 9. Population studies from dental anthopological point of view.

This course is very close connected with course Bi8145c Basics of dental anthropology - practical training. It is obligatory in case of interest in this problematic to enroll both courses together.
The examination is performed by written test.
