- Course objectives
- Principal aim of the subject is the study of regional geographical differentiation of the studied continent. Successively, all components of natural as well as socio-economical environment are analysed. Some specific problems of the continent are illustrated on the examples from the selected countries or macro-regions. Integral part of the accompanying seminars is an individual work of students on chosen regional geographical issues.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course student should be able to:
- analyse the differentiating factors of the natural environment of the continent;
- characterize the social and economic conditions of the continent;
- identify relevant environmental and socio-economical problems of the continent. - Syllabus
- General characteristic of continents. Ground features of geological structure. Relief, climate conditions and drainage of North and South America. Soils, vegetation and animals of American continents. Regional Policy, transnational Integrations. The Region and its Characteristics among following pattern:

- Teaching methods
- The basic teaching method is lecturing. Part of the course consists of seminar works of students on various topics in the field of natural, social, political, cultural and economic aspects of the continent.
- Assessment methods
- Participation on the seminars is compulsory. The necessary condition for obtaining the credit is the presentation and defense of the report dealing with the chosen regional geographic topic. Examination has two parts - written (physical geography) and oral (human geography).
