- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Molecular and Cell Biology (programme PřF, N-MCBE)
- Course objectives
- Within this course, students will be acquainted with the principal hormone groups and will learn to divide hormones according to their structure, effect, tissue of origin and physiological function. Particular emphasis will be given to the detailed description and understanding of the regulatory pathways which mediate hormonal effects in animal organisms. After completing the course, students will be able to describe and explain individual steps of the hormonal action at the cellular, tissue as well as organismal level.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
- understand the main groups of animal hormones;
- describe the mechanism of hormone synthesis and action based on its structure;
- identify and describe the key steps in regulation of hormonal activity;
- explain the individual steps of hormonal action at all levels of the animal organism - Syllabus
