Course objectives
Course is focused on basic description of renewable energy sources, a theoretical background and information needed for their use, design, advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional (conventional) energy sources. In particular, the student should be able to understand and explain the basic legislation, problems associated with integration of advanced technologies in the power transmission system and landscape. An essential part of the lectures is about geographical factors and technical conditions that enable or limiting the wider introduction of renewable energy sources for households, businesses and municipalities.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will have the knowledge about renewable energy sources, theoretical information needed for their use, design, advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional (conventional) energy sources. In particular, the student should be able to understand and explain the basic legislation, subsidy programs, problems associated with integration of advanced technologies in the power transmission system and landscape.

Teaching methods
In the frame of lectures, students acquire theoretical knowledge and overview of renewable resources application in the Czech Republic and abroad. In the practical exercises and homework, the attention is paid to an assessment of simple systems to the production of solar and wind energy. During the course, field excursion is planned to the location with the renewable energy sources.
Assessment methods
A necessary condition for granting of the credit is an active participation in seminars, field excursions, preparation and submission of the protocols and thematic projects. The examination has both written and oral form.
