- Course objectives
- Identification of characteristic species of particular vertebrate groups focused on the central European fauna.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to identify important vertebrate taxa of the Czech republic, describe their determination characteristics and classify them into the system of animals.
- Syllabus
- 1. Primary aquatic vertebrates, morphology, system, identification features 2. Lampreys and sturgeons. 3. Non cyprinids (non carps) 4. Cyprinids (carps) 5. Analysis of fish morphology and anatomy 6. Amphibians 7. Reptiles 8. Birds, morphology, system; aquatic birds (divers, grebes, cormorants and pelicans, herons, bitterns and storks, swans, gees and ducks) 9. Birds II: other Non-passerines 10. Birds III: Passerines 1 11. Birds IV: Passerines 2 12. Mammals, morphology, system; Insectivores and bats 13. Mammals II: rodents, hares and rabbits 14. Mammals III: carnivores and ungulates
