The course must be enrolled together with Bi6111. - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Physiology (programme PřF, N-EBZ)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, B-EXB)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, B-EXB, specialization Experimental Biology of Animals and Immunology)
- Course objectives
- The course aims to train the acquisition of behavioral data in the laboratory on invertebrates and vertebrates. It develops the skills of independent data acquisition, evaluation and graphical presentation of data, including discussion of results.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the graduate will be able to: -apply behavioural methods to specific biological questions; -evaluate and present his/her own behavioural data;
- Syllabus
- Invertebrates: Behaviour of the larvae of an octopus and/or nematode Learning of bees - PER Teaching the T-maze - T-maze Learning insects - Freezing Rodents: Activity and Circadian Rhythms of the Mouse Rodent Learning - Morris maze, Y-maze Grid test, challenging beam
- Teaching methods
- Demonstrations of behavioral tests. Students independently evaluate data from experiments and process graphical outputs. Results and conclusions are discussed.
- Assessment methods
- Understanding of the meaning and technique of the experiments presented, ability to present and discuss specific data obtained are assessed. The student will present the prepared protocols of the demonstrated tasks. In discussion with others, the student must demonstrate knowledge of conducting basic types of behavioral experiments, processing and evaluating behavioral data.
