Course objectives
The aim is to deepen knowledge from the Border and Cross-Border Baseline course. The basis is the presentation of subjects dealing with border issues in the Czech Republic, individual border sections (including foreign institutions). It will also focus on research approaches and methods (both quantitative and qualitative), the subject areas (demography, ecology, infrastructure, etc.) as well as regional development actors (individual hierarchical levels).
Learning outcomes
The graduate focuses on the issue of frontier research, in terms of content, institutional, personnel and territorial.
Syllabus
  • 1018/5000 1. Academic institutions dealing with border issues (universities and research institutes). 2. Other Czech subjects dealing with border issues (eg MRD ČR, ÚÚR). 3. Foreign institutions of neighboring countries dealing with border issues. 4. Relevant bibliography - introduction from the point of view of copyright, territorial, thematic, etc. 5. Methods and knowledge of quantitative nature (including data availability and compatibility, data collection in terrain) 6. Methods and knowledge of qualitative character (application of controlled interview, interview, biography) 7. Solved Circuits - Territories: ecology, land use, infrastructure, etc. 8. Solved Circles - Society: Demography, Education, Labor Market, Mobility 9. Solved Circuits - Economy: Industry, Transport, Performance / Competitiveness 10. Local development actors (municipalities, individual entities - eg enterprises, non-profit organizations) 11. Actors of regional development (associations of municipalities, regions, euroregions, chambers, etc.) 12. National and transnational development actors (ministries, foreign policy, AEBR)

Teaching methods
371/5000 The course consists of lectures informing people about the personality, focus, projects and publishing outputs of the relevant workplaces, while analyzing from the point of view of the analyzed topics. Exercises follow on the interpretation in the form of a search and subsequent discussion of model examples that extend the previous knowledge. According to the current situation, students are involved in the research activities of the workplace.
Assessment methods
The prerequisite for the successful completion of the course is the corresponding processing of the seminar work, usually presenting the chosen workplace or analyzing the chosen title of the Czech literature presented at the seminar.
