- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- there are 16 fields of study the course is directly associated with, display
- Course objectives
- Students can apply general principles of geology in solving environmental problems. They are able to think critically and independently and make decisions on topics related to the environmental protection.
- Learning outcomes
- The graduate will understand basic and key processes in geological time and physico-chemical processes in environment. The graduate is able to solve basic tasks in applied environmental sciences. The graduate will be able to focus on environmental pollution and subsequent reclamation for practical purposes.
- Syllabus

The use of land resources and its environmental impacts 4. Waste production and management 5. Contaminants in the environment 6. Principles of risk analysis Questions to the State Master's Exam in Environmental Geology 1. Geochemical cycles (rock cycle, energy flows, hydrological cycle, biogeochemical cycles); 2. Dangerous geological processes (classification of natural disasters, weather-related hazards); 3. Utilization of natural resources (renewable and non-renewable resources, efficient and sustainable resource management); 4. Pollutant assessment (classification and methods of pollution assessment, analytical methods, fate of chemicals in the environment); 5. Contaminants in the environment (organic and inorganic contaminants - classification, terminology); 6. Water quality and pollution of surface and groundwater; 7. Reduction of waste generation and disposal (waste management, waste minimization methods); 8. Atmosphere and its global threats; 9. Soil degradation and contamination (erosion, degradation of physical properties, acidification, salinisation, biological degradation, reduction of buffering capacity); 10. Environmental protection tools (normative, economic, global environmental policy, principles of environmental and health risk analysis).
