- During the course of the semester, 9 basic topics related to the fundamentals and applications of ICP-MS/OES, LA-ICP-MS and LIBS will be covered. 1. Theoretical aspects of solution analysis by means of ICP-MS/OES 2. Theoretical aspects of laser-based methods - LA-ICP-MS and LIBS 3. Sample preparation and quantification for analysis of solutions 4. Preparation of geological samples and quantification procedures for LA-ICP-MS and LIBS analysis. 5. Preparation of biological samples and quantification procedures for LA-ICP-MS analysis and LIBS analysis. 6. Analysis of geological samples - spot analysis vs. imaging 7. Analysis of biological samples - elemental and molecular information 8. Analysis of microplastics - conventional methods for characterization 9. LA-ICP-MS as a new tool for microplastics - chemical analysis and imaging
