- Course objectives
- The course introduces the basic approaches used in the evaluation of territorial differentiation. Attention will be paid to the less-favored areas, ie rural areas, peripheries and border areas. The issue will be examined comprehensively and at all hierarchical levels.
- Learning outcomes
- The graduate of the course is familiar with the issue of territorial differentiation from a geographical / complex point of view. They master theoretical approaches, they can connect them to the level of practical regional policy by the public administration.
- Syllabus
- 1. Territorial differentiation, regional disparities, polarization, dichotomy, continuum, hierarchy 2. Geographical position, horizontal and vertical division, delimitation, boundaries and oscillations 3. Endogenous potential, lifestyle, standard of living, conceptual / strategic documents, state / regional interventionism 4. Suburbanization of rural areas, hinterland, suburban areas, non-metropolitan areas, settlements and landscape 5. Specifics / peculiarities of rural areas, local / rural community / community, second housing 6. Examples of rural, global, European, national, regional, local solutions 7. Core - semiperifery - periphery - marginal region 8. Peripherals of positional, semantic, ecological, external and internal periphery 9. Examples of peripheral solutions at global, European, national, regional, local level 10. Border, border, inland, internal and external border 11. European integration and euroregions, cross-border cooperation 12. Examples of borderland solutions at global, European, national, regional, local level
