- Course objectives
- The subject is devoted to several partial, more narrowly focused topics, further developing or supplementing knowledge from the undergraduate pedogeography course.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able:
- to explain the differences between world and national soil classifications
- to list and explain soil quality indicators
- to explain the role of soil in the global carbon cycle
- to identify the main sources of chemical soil pollution
- to explain the specifics soil development in the Quaternary - Syllabus
- 1. International soil classifications (WRB, US Soil taxonomy), their development and latest innovations, a comparison of individual classifications with each other and their confrontation with the national classification system TKSP is presented
- 2. Assessment of soil health, quality indicators of forest and agricultural soils in the Czech Republic
- 3. Global carbon cycle, factors influencing the movement of carbon in the soil
- 4. Soil contamination processes with chemical substances, xenobiotics in soils
- 5. Paleopedology, changes in soil-forming factors during the Quaternary, old soils in the Czech Republic
