Module 1: Introduction to Global Health

Seminar overview

We will be focusing in this very first seminar of the Global Health course on  the origins of what we call "global health". 🌍 

You will hear about the fascinating history of global health, train your skills in lateral thinking about health, investigate key concepts and do some interactive activities in class. 

We highly encourage discussion and argumentation in this course so feel free to ask and question during the seminar. 🌝

There are some supplementary reading materials to this seminar which you will find in the below sections of the syllabus. Feel free to take a look and explore them before coming to class.

Learning objectives

After participating in this seminar:

  • Learners will obtain knowledge about key concepts in global health to implement in their everyday studies and practice.  
  • Learners will be able to explain and discuss about the impacts of poverty on population and individual health.  
  • Learners will develop skills in thinking about health from an equity and social determinants' viewpoint.
