Course objectives
The main goal of the course is the acquisition of the Czech Sign Language basics. The teaching also includes theoretical basics in the field of Czech Sign Language linguistics and in the culture of deaf people.
Learning outcomes
After end the course, the student will: have mastered the basics of Czech Sign Language have acquired some 300 signs use the non-manual component of sign language: facial movements (facial expressions), head movements, and upper body movements manage the basic communication in Czech Sign Language (everyday communication situations of a social nature), be able to ask and answer simple questions have a basic theoretical overview of linguistics of sign language

Teaching methods
Introduction theoretical lecture and practical exercises.
Assessment methods
Students get credits for 75% attendance, activity in e-learning course and for the final test, or individual interview in Czech Sign Language based on a student’s video in Czech Sign Language. For the final test - video in the Czech Sign Language is played and the role of the students is to choose the correct answer from four options, or to answer the question.

Teacher's information
The course is for beginners, there is no need to have any theoretical or practical knowledge in the specialization of sign languages. Schedule information: classes will take place on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:40 AM or Wednesday from 3:00 do 4:40 PM online (via the ZOOM application) or according to current measures in the Teiresias Centre on Komenského nám. 2. (classroom n. KOM107). Classes start on March 1, 2021 and end on May 28, 2021. In the case of online teaching, a webcam connection and activity is required (non-connection is considered as non-participation).
