- Cíle předmětu
- The course give the students an information about wide context of transformation period in post-communist countries. The questions of social, demographic, geographical, territorial and economic development are explaned on the case of Czech Republic and other central and eastern european countries (CEEC). The students obtain knowledge due to it, transformation process and its influence on territorial (regional) development will be understandable. Passing the course they will be able to make an opinion of possibilities of future development and correctness of concrete steps for solving regional differencies in economic policy of Czech Republic and CEEC.

- Introduction to regional development, fundamental terms, CZ-NUTS classification of Czech regions. Regional policy in the process of transformation, reasons for regional differentiation, development of the regions, Czech regional policy (tools, institutions, policies). Programmes implementation I - Strategy of the Regional Development in the Czech Republic, Czech X European regional policy, implementation of the Structural funds. Programmes implementation II - institutions building, political support, cross border cooperation Regional Development Agency - goals of the RDA, ČARA / EURADA, activities of the Regional Development Agency of Southern Moravia. Territorial public administration, instruments of financial management at the local and regional level - budgets of municipalities and regions, budgetary outlooks. Foreign Direct Investment - investment opportunities in the Czech Republic, inflow of FDI, investment incentives, influence of the FDI on the regional development. The business environment in the Czech Republic, strengths and weaknesses of the Czech business environment. Support of small and medium-sized enterprises, what the SMEs are, how they are supported (forms of support and programmes) and which institutions support them in the CR. Labour market and employment policy, unemployment in Czech regions and its development, efficiency of labour market policy. Tourism, brief history of tourism and basic tourism characteristics, external and internal impacts of tourism. Tourism Management (government involvement, tourism administration structure (national, regional level), public-private cooperation etc.) and Tourism Marketing. Czech regions in international comparison, its present and future, indicators of measuring and evaluation of regional standards.
