Course objectives
Corporate Strategic Management (PHSTRP) The aim of this course is to present the functions, nature and methods of strategic management of a company. The topic area is focused especially on defining the concept of corporate strategy and its strategic targets, strategic diagnosis, monitoring of the company environment and forecasting its development. Stress is on describing the nature and possibilities of applications of individual methods of formulating and assessing company strategy. Methods covered enable the company to analyse the industry in which it operates and to forecast its future development, understand the competitors, its own position and to transform this analysis into the competitive strategy of concrete enterprise. Emphasis is also on the influence of the competitive strategy on the internal company atmosphere and its changes. The course consists of lectures and seminars. Seminars practice formulation of strategies through case studies. Credit requirements: active participation in seminars. Examination: oral.
