- The knowledge of microeconomics is useful - but the essential concepts are explained in the course textbook - Cowie: Transport Economics. The understanding of basic statistics and econometrics is useful for deeper understanding of case studies - but again it is not necessary for passing the course.

- Course objectives
- This course uses a detailed analysis of results from transportation economics literature to provide an integrated collection of theory and applications. Its numerous case studies illustrate the economic principles, discuss testable hypothesis, analyze econometric results, and examine each study’s implications for public policy. These features make this a well-developed introduction to the foundations of transportation economics.
- Learning outcomes
- This course teaches the students: - to understand theory and practise of transport markets - to understand public policy in transport - to read, understand and interpret the results of academic papers in the area of transport economics - to discuss relevant microenomic concepts appplied to the transport sector - to write and defend an empirical project in the trasnport economics
